Saltwater Softwash Pressure Washing Call · (508) 555-0128

Martha’s Vineyard, MA

The green on the north wall isn't dirt.

It's growing. Salt air, fog and shade suit algae and lichen, and they hold water against the wood. Decks, porches and siding cleaned properly — without blasting the shingle to do it.

Martha’s Vineyard based Quotes from photos You don't need to be on island

What we clean

Three surfaces, done thoroughly

Porches

Floors, ceilings, rails and posts — the parts people actually touch.

Siding

House washing at a pressure that cleans the shingle, not strips it.

Something else that needs washing? Ask — if it's not something we do, we'll say so.

Off-island owners

You don't have to be here for it

Most houses on this island are empty most of the year. That shouldn't make them harder to look after.

You don't need to be here

Plenty of houses get washed while the owners are on the mainland. Access through a caretaker, a lockbox, or an unlocked gate — whatever you already have set up.

Quoted from photos

Send pictures of the deck, porch or siding and we'll come back with a number. If something on site changes the job, you hear about it before any work starts, not after.

Photos when it's done

If you're not going to see the work, the after photos are the work. You get them when the job is finished.

Text or email a few photos of what you want cleaned. Most jobs can be quoted from pictures, which matters if you are not on island right now.

We agree the scope

Which surfaces, what's excluded, and roughly how long it takes. No surprises added on the day.

The work gets done

You don't have to be there. Plenty of Martha’s Vineyard houses get cleaned while the owners are off island — photos when it's done.

Common questions

What people ask first

Will this damage my siding?

It shouldn't, because most house washing shouldn't be high pressure in the first place. Forcing water at a shingle wall drives it behind the courses and into seams, and that is what causes trapped moisture and lifted paint later. The cleaning solution does the work; the water just carries it and rinses it.

What about the plants underneath?

They get looked after. Plants that are watered before anything goes on the wall don't take much up, and everything gets rinsed again on the way out. Tell us about anything you're particular about — a new hydrangea, a vegetable bed — before the day.

Do I need to be home?

No. A lot of Martha’s Vineyard houses are washed while the owners are on the mainland. We just need a way in to the outside — a gate, a caretaker, an outdoor spigot — and you get photos when it's done.

Is it dirt or is it something growing?

On this island it is almost always something growing. Salt air, fog and shade suit algae, moss and lichen, and those organisms hold moisture against the wood. That's why a shaded north wall goes dark years before a sunny one, and why washing it is maintenance rather than housekeeping.

How often does it need doing?

It depends on how much shade and salt the surface takes — a sheltered south-facing porch and a north wall under trees are not on the same schedule. Ask when we look at it and you'll get a straight answer for your house rather than a number off a chart.
